Franklin Technology Center – Joplin Schools

Location

Joplin, MO

Completed

2019

When Joplin Schools needed to relocate some of FTC’s adult education programs, they made the choice to occupy empty space in one of the district’s most historically significant buildings: Memorial Education Center. The building was constructed in 1918 as Joplin High School and recently celebrated it’s centennial. It houses the district’s administrative offices, IT department, the Board room, and gifted program.

13,563 square feet of the first floor was transformed with LED lighting and new finishes to become high-tech medical labs and classrooms for FTC’s Surgical Tech, Practical Nursing, and Medical Office Assistant programs. A few classrooms have been renovated but remain open for future program growth.

The corridors were redesigned to provide vibrant study spots and break-out spaces for students while promoting the FTC brand and school pride. FTC staff offices and a welcoming and secure entrance for students and visitors is located on Wall Ave.
